Gunmen kidnap Sunday Igboho’s wife and others
Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba rights campaigner, the wife has been kidnapped by gunmen who raided his home in the early hours of Thursday.
According to Ilana Omo Oodua, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye, the leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups.
Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, his Communications Manager, signed a statement on his behalf and made it available to reporters.
‘Yoruba Nation: Elements of the Nigerian Army, accompanied by International Terrorists hired by the Nigerian State, attacked Sunday Ighoho’s Residence – Akintoye,’ read the statement.
Akintoye claimed that “the assailants were all dressed in military uniform and spoke French fluently,” according to the Communications Manager.
“He went on to say that the gunmen killed seven people in the building and kidnapped Igboho’s wife and others.”
The incident occurred 72 hours before the Yoruba Nation rally, which will be held in Lagos on Saturday and will be attended by Akintoye and Igboho.
