Nollywood Actress Lilian Esoro Cries Out Over Outrageous EKEDC NEPA Bill
Electricity Distribution Companies in Nigeria suddenly increased electricity bill.
This is unconnected with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) tariff increase in 2020.
Nerc called the new electricity charges ‘Service Reflective Tariff’ which means the more hours you enjoy energy, the more you will pay.
Reasons NERC gave for the sudden hike in tariffs:
- Inflation rate (the cost of living in Nigeria)
- Global Gas price (that has increased since 2015)
- Nigeria exchange rate
- US exchange rate
- Average kilowatt that Discos sells
- Unit cost of power generation
- The total/aggregate technical collection and commercial loses
Despite the reasons given, Nigerians are not happy about the development. And has always revolted against it.
Lilian Esoro is one of the many Nigerians that are not happy with the electricity distribution company. This can be seen in Lilian’s Instagram status update.
According to the renowned Nollywood actress and Instagram celebrity, she said “NEPA ABI PHCN UNA DEY WHINE ME ABI?”.
“I DON’T UNDERSTAND
AM I RUNNING A FACTORY? OR IS THIS FOR THE YEAR I DON’T UNDERSTAND. UNA DEY MAD NI” She queried.
Her anger can be understood because how on earth can you give someone a bill of N790,321.85 (almost 1 million Naira).
